Welcome to my homepage!

My greatest passion in life is to work with people. If I can positively impact just one life in my lifetime then I have made a difference. I'm continuously looking for ways to improve the service I offer and I would love to hear any suggestions. I rely on feedback not only from my clients but also from the correspondence I receive to determine where the biggest needs exist.

A little about myself: I first qualified as a nurse and I worked for 7 years in a spinal and neuro intensive care unit. While nursing I qualified as a psychological counsellor and I am now currently completing my academic masters in Theology/Psychology. My internship was conducted at a unplanned pregnancy and crisis centre as well as at a rehabilitation unit for spinal and head injuries. I have experience and offer counselling in the following areas:

  • Trauma Debriefing
  • Couples Counselling
  • Stress Management
  • Play Therapy
  • Addictions
  • Divorce
  • Bereavement
  • Unplanned Pregnancies
  • Spinal and Neuro Injuries
  • Pastoral Counselling
  • Weight loss

Monday - Friday (by Appointment)

Saturday Mornings (by Appointment between 8am - 12pm)

  • 60 minute session (individual, family or couple) - R300.00
  • Group session (60 minutes) - R60 p/p
  • Teambuilding - available on request  (cost depends on specific requirements)

A registered psychological counsellor is still a relatively new category which the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA) has introduced in an attempt to make mental health services more widely available to the general public especially to those, who for economic reasons, often cannot afford to make use of professional services.

A psychological counsellor focuses on short term counselling and in cases where it is deemed necessary a referral will be made to a psychologist or to a psychiatrist. Registered counsellors are not lay counsellors and have studied an average of 5 years towards their honours qualification in Psychology. All registered counsellors are also required to complete a year's internship in gaining practical experience.

After completing a board's exam counsellor's are then awarded a practise number, are eligible to claim from medical aids and to open their own practise.

Once a week (Friday mornings 9:30am - 11:30pm) I am offering a play group for 4 children between the ages of 3 - 4 years of age. Cost is R150 and this includes materials for arts and crafts. Please note the purpose of the play group is not therapy but educational stimulation. Special needs children welcome.

I receive a lot of enquiries from fellow Psychological counsellors and Psychology students regarding job opportunities and how to go about starting a practise so I am presenting a course aimed at providing more information. Please view "Workshops and Courses" tab on this website for more information.
